In Texas (2) - Feds Spit On Barrett's Claims About Austin's CARE Clinics... April 16th, 2011 - Stephen Barrett and his masters and minions are REALLY IN BIG TROUBLE. They put together a coordinated attack on cutting-edge Autism testing and treatment - and it failed - and now it is coming back on them.Proceeding on information provided by Barrett and his sleazy cronies, in July of 2009 Federal investigators, including the FBI and the IRS, acting under a Federal Search Warrant, raided CARE Clinics in Austin, Texas seizing 250 boxes of records, including patient records. The warrant claimed they were looking for evidence of health fraud and insurance fraud. The clinic was using the following Protocol.Last Week, April 7th, 2011 to be exact, a US Justice Department Attorney, Mark Lane, notified the clinic's attorney, Rick Jaffee, that the investigation was over and that no charges would be sought. He told them to come and pick up those two hundred fifty (250) boxes of records seized in that July 2009 raid. This action represents a major defeat for Stephen Barrett, and his network, who were clearly behind the attack. In a minute I am going to let you read all of Barrett's submitted paperwork, but before you see it I want to point out some things you will see. More, I will point out things you DO NOT see. But let's start with a few introductory paragraphs from Barrett's unsuccessful Complaint to the Texas Medical Board: MORE "Assisting Government" - The New Legal Argument for Nutbags... March 30th, 2011 - I simply cannot get over the fact that Stephen Barrett actually found attorneys who would write legal papers demanding that he, Barrett, be declared the Czar/God of US health care and Dismiss the Doctor's Data v Barrett, et al, case on the basis that Stephen Barrett, in his total nutbag role, is "assisting government." Wow! Just think - a whole new legal concept, that when employed, would change the face of law as we know it. I guess, under that legal argument, it is too bad that Adolph Hitler didn't know Stephen Barrett and his legal team. For, if he did, way back then, just think, instead of Adolph and Eva Braun committing double suicide in their Berlin bunker, they could have, simply, run for the American lines, hands raised, screaming "we were assisting government, we were assisting government, we were assisting government, we were assisting government..." With this novel "assisting government" legal argument the conviction of serial killer, rapist, necrophiliac, torturer, cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer might of been avoided. Dahmer could have claimed he was, you know, helping the government get rid of excess population, avoiding the cost of public burial, etc... Then there's Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Manuel Noriega, Joseph Stalin, Dracula, Pol Pot, Caligula, Vlad the Impaler, Hernando Cortes, Lucrecia Borgia, John Wilkes Booth - all "clearly misunderstood" if you insert the "assisting government" legal argument into their mix. Even better, jump on your favorite highway, jam your foot to the floor, ignore those "School Zone" signs, and see how much fun you can have holding that speedometer needle at top speed while you are "assisting government" to keep law enforcement at maximum efficiency. Gee whiz - why didn't we, as Americans, just write this idea into our Constitution? Where was George, Tom, and Ben (Washington, Jefferson, and Franklin)? (sarcasm intended). It is not the first time Stephen Barrett has come up with a total whack-job legal theory... It is not even the second or the third time. In no particular order I'll lay out some of Barrett's previous legal theories - all of which, of course, have been summarily rejected by the Courts. MORE March 23rd, 2011 - It has happened again. Stephen Barrett, the man who would be the Czar/God of US healthcare can't make another deadline in the Doctor's Data v Barrett, et al, Federal Court case, and has whimpered to the Judge that he needs more time (sniff, sniff). I'm not even mildly surprised. The Motion For Extension of Time was filed by the Chicago attorneys. Barrett's so-called lead attorney, Michael K. Botts, seems to have disappeared, and if he's working at all, it may be out of the trunk of his car - since it was pointed out in the Plaintiff's Objection to an Extension of Time, that Botts is NOT working at the law office, anymore, that he claimed he worked at, at the beginning of the case. Once again, I am not even mildly surprised. We are, of course, dealing with quackbusters. MORE The 2011 Long Beach Health Freedom Expo... March 18th, 2011 - The Health Freedom Expo series is in its seventh year. It seems like just yesterday that I went to the first one over by the LA Airport. Wendell Whitman, who I dearly miss, was wandering around by the sign-up booth worrying that not enough people would come. Did they come? Oh yes. The following year the event was moved to the much larger Long Beach Convention Center. This year, it has moved to an even larger facility yet, still at the Long Beach Convention Center - March 25th, 26th, and 27th, 2011. Wendell passed away in 2008, and although his marvelous daughter Julie Whitman Kline carries on very well, I miss his presence, and his tart sense of humor. Being of the same age group we could comment with same references on the state of the world - and we did. I spoke at those early Expos, and went out of my way to recruit the best speakers I could find. Hulda Clark found a home there, speaking both on Saturday and Sunday, and holding a lab on Sunday afternoons. But, for me, it was, and is, the camaraderie. The hallways, byways, the exhibitor floor, and the doorways going in and out of speaker's rooms become the place of smiles where, if sometimes only for a moment, you get to greet old friends and allies, from the years gone by. MORE Google Shuts Down Quackbuster Discussion Group... February 23rd, 2011 - Google, the owner of the famous search engine, also runs a series of Discussion Groups, called "Google Groups." For as long as anyone can remember there has been a Discussion Group called "misc.health.alternative." But no longer. Yesterday, Google shut it down, claiming the group violated Google's Terms Of Service. It was never known who started the group, nor who managed it. But it was always clear that it was a forum for bashing cutting edge health care, for the most part by posters using a fake name, and more often than not, those posters viciously attacked, using the most offensive language and suggestions of odd sexual preferences. Some of the internet's nastiest posters got their start here. "Orac the Nipple Ripper," for instance, reveled here, belittling his betters until, of course, his identity was revealed, and the attack on him was reversed. Avoiding the sting, he ran for his own Blog, where he could control the posted comments about his writings. But Google shut it down, quite ceremoniously... MORE Trine "Two Shoes" Tsouderos - Barrett's Tokyo Rose... January 25th, 2011 - The Desperation Level in the Quackpot camp has reached an all-time high. The Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case is so devastating to them that they are, without doubt, at a point similar to where the Japanese High Command was when the Americans were designing the attack on their mainland towards the end of Word War II. The Japanese, at that point, put together a very desperate three-part strategy: (1) Kamikaze airplane pilots who would sacrifice their lives driving their airplanes into American naval ships. (2) An organized "fight to the death" to defend the homeland, and (3) a continuing propaganda effort to do two things (a) convince the Japanese people to keep fighting, and (b) convince the American soldiers that millions of them would die during an invasion attempt of the mainland. The last tactic (3)(b) was conducted through Japanese radio broadcasts out of Tokyo, and, as in broadcasts conducted throughout the war, centered around an English speaking female figure known to US servicemen as "Tokyo Rose." MORE Captain Screwloose (Stephen Barrett) Runs For Cover... December 14th, 2010 - I predicted this would happen months ago in the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case.On August 25th, 2010, in an article called "Has Stephen Barrett's "Puppet Master" Appeared? " I said:"So, what do I think will happen now? Instead of a "legal" Defense, they're going to use a two part strategy: (1) Delay, delay, delay - for the last thing the quackbusters want is to have Barrett (a) examined by a Psychiatrist, (b) forced into a two or three day video taped Deposition. (c) or to have the NCAHF board members Deposed, (d) or to have Paul Kurtz, Terry Polevoy, Orac the Nipple Ripper, Steve Novella, William London, or Paul Lee Deposed." Any of the above would create a disaster for them. Why? Once the Response message is on file then the public relations campaign to destroy Doctor's Data Laboratory, and the Doctors that have used their services, will begin in earnest. Barrett, and his Puppet Master, will call on all of their resources, all at once, in an effort to win."Well, I told you so... (Insert laughter here). On December 3rd, 2010, one of Stephen Barrett's attorneys filed a Motion to DELAY imposition of Discovery requirements for at least twenty one more days while they prepare to file another Motion. MOREThe Doctor's Data v. Barrett, et al, case - a Summary to Date... November 19th, 2010 - The Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court is, by far, the most important court case involving health care in North America, for, for the first major time the group that conspires to damage emerging health care systems in favor of the status quo is, itself, under major attack, and will likely be destroyed by this action. And, it is about time. Federal Court cases tend to drag on. So that we don't lose track of what's happening in the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case I'm going to summarize the case for you to date, by outlining what has already happened. Then I'll give you an idea of what is going to happen next. In short, we are all waiting for the Discovery Schedules due December 6th, 2010. With that we'll be able to predict what will happen, and when it will happen. Discovery will be the key to breaking up the quackbuster conspiracy and impoverishing its members. With luck, enough information may be gathered to convert this case into a full-blown RICO action with all of the likely consequences. MORE Barrett Responds to Doctor's Data v Barrett Lawsuit... October 10th, 2010 - Warning - sarcasm present. Finally - a Response from Stephen Barrett et al, in the Doctor's Data v Barrett Federal lawsuit. In essence, Barrett's legal team took forty-four (44) pages to say "We deny everything. So there." And, it took Barrett one hundred and seventeen (117) days to come up with that answer. This from a guy who, Court documents show, was commenting on cases filed against his victims up to one day (-1) before the actual filing. Strangely, the Response was filed, not by Barrett's so-called "lead" attorney Micheal K. Botts but by the local counsel Peter M. Katsaros, a senior partner at Golan and Christie in Chicago. Hmmm? It looks like Barrett's legal bills are piling up. MORE Why the Doctor's Data v Barrett case is important to North America... September 22nd, 2010 - The US health care system is in tatters. It is total crap, run by crooks and idiots, who on their best day, either by design, or stupidity, cannot find any solutions. The "War on Cancer" has been running almost 39 years - and we are not even close to official answers - because the "war" is intentionally designed to fail. The US health care system, itself, is the number one killer of Americans. Health problems that could, and should, have been solved years ago, like autism, diabetes and heart disease tear our society apart. Why is this happening? Because the system generates way too much money the way it is. No one within the system wants change. And, "the system" has built in defense mechanisms designed to kill threats to itself. One of those built in mechanisms is the "quackbuster" operation, a cleverly designed process whereby virtually any treatment, lab test, device, author, practitioner, or idea that is outside of the current US health care "status quo" gets systematically rolled in excrement, so to speak, and publicly held up to ridicule by a mostly hidden group. The flagship for this operation is Quackwatch.com and its aging, bitter, loser, Stephen Barrett. But there is much more to the "quackbuster" operation than Barrett. Why do I say that? Because, although Barrett intentionally publicly paints his enemies with sewage, no one would care what this rabid old fart has to say if his material never floated to the top of search engines. But it does - and it is not by accident. In short, Obamacare, nor any other current health care solution, on the table, proposed by the "thinkers," is going to help North Americans for one simple reason. The proposed solutions fail, at first, to identify the real problems of North American Health Care - and that problem is that we are on a maintenance of symptom system rather than a cure system. In short, Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, Stroke, Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and more can all be beaten right now with existing science and technology - but all of that science and technology is blocked, and its proponents intentionally smeared in the public's eye. April 7th, 2011 - Texas is a major battle ground in the health wars. Always has been. What is different now is that the pace has been stepped up. "Defense" is last year's strategy - it got part of the job done. Now there is a shift - a big one, and it is rolling along quite nicely. Before I tell you what's happening, who is doing it, and where it is going, I'm going to give you a little history by showing you a summary of an earlier campaign. The big battleground ten-to-fifteen years ago was California, and the North American Health Freedom Movement stomped through the state like Sherman's march to the sea. Like Texas now, coalitions had been formed, problem areas identified, and strategies and tactics designed and implemented. And, once rolling, it all went smoothly. Unlike Texas, California is now a safe haven for cutting-edge health care. MORE Long Beach Health Freedom Expo Huge Success... March 29th, 2011 - Last weekend I was at the Long Beach Health Freedom Expo. The place was packed for three days. Any quackbuster attending had to be completely intimidated. For when I say that the "health freedom movement outnumbers them 100,000 to 1," here, they got a practical application of what I'm talking about. The photo to the left was taken during radio host "Coast-to-Coast" George Noory's panel discussion in the ballroom. But, keep in mind that there were THREE radio show hosts at this event. There were always multiple things, multiple lectures, etc., going on. Walking down the hallways it became obvious that virtually all of the speakers were well attended. Clinton Ray Miller did, of course, start off the event, at 10:00AM Friday, and he set the tone for what was to come. Immediately after Clinton's lecture the choices began, and attendees had to pick which speakers they wanted to hear, or which panel they wanted to catch. MORE I'm Speaking (Sigh) at the Long Beach Health Freedom Expo... March 21st, 2011 - Blame Clinton Ray Miller. So, I get this email from Julie Whitman Kline, head person at the Health Freedom Expo, which says, in essence "How about 1:00 PM Friday in 306B? I need a Lecture Description, a fresh bio, and a current photo..."Julie is a lot like her Dad, Wendell. Kind of assertive in a good way. Pretty too - so nobody says "no. "So, I'll be around all day Friday for sure, starting out at Clinton's lecture at 10:00 AM, and following the schedule. If I'm wandering around and you want to meet with me, ask at the National Health Freedom Coalition and National Health Freedom Action booth (602), or at my radio buddy Robert Scott Bell's booth (Sovereign Silver - 416). My Lecture Topic... Health Freedom Strategies - Shifting from Defense to Offense... MORE The Plight of the Autism Activists... March 13th, 2011 - I met with a group of the top people in the Autism Awareness Movement yesterday at a meeting hosted by Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) at the Hilton Hotel in Costa Mesa, California, right across the parking lot from TACA's Main office. The speakers for the meeting were none other than Dan Olmstead and Mark Blaxill, authors of the book "The Age of Autism - Mercury, Medicine, and a Man-Made Epidemic." Last night I got a signed copy. They were introduced by Lisa Ackerman, TACA's top gun. MORE Pissy Pimple-Popper Polevoy Patently Purchased?... February 6th, 2011 - The California attorney for Canada's cheap copy of Stephen Barrett, one Terry Polevoy, a Board Certified Pediatrician turned pimple doctor, submitted some papers to the Alameda, CA Superior Court last month indicating that a Conditional Settlement had been reached in the Polevoy v Grell and twenty un-named John Does case. You can read the original article about this situation here. Guess what the settlement contains... MORE Barrett's "Battle of the Bulge" Begins... January 7th, 2011 - Stephen Barrett, et al, filed some paperwork Monday, January 3rd, 2011 in the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case, in essence, demanding that the Court Dismiss the case in its entirety, financially sanction the attorneys for Doctor's Data, and Formally Declare Stephen Barrett as the "Czar/God of US Health Care..." I kid you not... The papers filed in the case are so ABSURD, even I, in my true skeptic world, am sitting here with my mouth hanging open in sheer disbelief - and I read the whole thing several times before I went to bed Monday night.. Michael K. Botts has stepped up to bat... (maybe, sort of, etc.). I told you this would happen. Now will come the quackbuster's last-ditch effort to destroy Doctor's Data - as fast as possible. We'll call the attempt "Barrett's 'Battle of the Bulge'..." Why? Because I see the similarity, here, with the attempt NAZI Germany made on December 16th, 1944 to reverse their fortunes of war, stopping the Allied Invasion of Europe. Will this tactic work for Barrett? (Start smiling right about here). Absolutely not - for Barrett, and his band of numby-dumbies are walking right into the situation (trap) we want them in - they have put what Barrett actually is, right on the line. In the documents presented to the Court are the arguments, I am not joking, that claim that Barrett is some kind of ultimate Demi-God, fully qualified (snort here) to decide US health care. Perfect. MORE AAPS Wallops Texas Medical Board... December 8th, 2010 - Yes, this story about the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS) chewing up the Texas Medical Board in a Federal Appeals Court is already all over the internet. However, not one of the stories tell you what's going on behind the scenes. And, that's where the action is. Fasten your seat belt. Now, it's very clear that AAPS sued the Texas Medical Board a while back, in Federal Court, making some very specific allegations - but - the case didn't attract much attention, because, you know, lawsuits happen all of the time - right? Wrong. This case was a sleeper. In other words, the strategy, right from the start was to low-profile it. The fact is this case is a bombshell, designed to rip the quackbuster conspiracy from its roots, and spray Roundup on the stump. This case is converging quickly with the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case. What? The two cases are related? Ah, yup... MORE ObamaCare - The US Health Freedom Movement is Responsible for the Best Changes - But There is Still Much Work to be Done... October 31st, 2010 - It is common knowledge that few, if any, Americans believe what US network TV tells them about health care. Most people don't believe what the big newspapers tell them either. Americans think that our media is controlled - and it is. So, Americans, even those involved in conventional, status quo, health care seek real information elsewhere. And, where do they go? The answer to that question is readily obvious. They get information about what is really happening from those of us in the North American Health Freedom Movement; websites, newsletters, radio shows, TV shows, conferences, public speaking engagements, legislative efforts, etc. In fact, just about everything we do works. We are being listened to by the people that matter. I'll give you a demonstration further down the page. MORE October 5th, 2010 - You're right. Stephen Barrett has, so far, it seems, missed the Thursday, September 30th deadline to Respond to the Doctor's Data v Barrett Federal lawsuit. So far. Yes, it's true, that no papers were apparently filed with the Court by 5:00PM on that date. And, also very obviously, no electronic filing was made by midnight of that same date. And, I checked to see if Barrett had tried to change jurisdiction to some other Court - nothing. Don't get your hopes up, just yet, to be able to start collecting Barrett souvenirs, however. There is still one more legal option available. Barrett's attorney could have dropped a package in the mail before 5:00PM on September 30th, 2010, making certain he has a record of the postmark time. "Free Speech about Science Act of 2011" - ANH Takes Lead...April 6th, 2011 -Sometimes we all forget how very large the North American Health Freedom Movement actually is. Sometimes, because of its sheer size it becomes unwieldy. But, for certain, there are those that, every day, see something that needs doing - and simply do it first, reminding us all what we need to do next. The Alliance for Natural Health (ANH) took the lead, this week, in the North American Health Freedom ventures when they announced support for, and energized their membership, to support "The Free Speech about Science (FSAS) Act, HR 1364." Good for them. Here's what their article led off with. MOREAttorney Botts MISSING - Barrett's Legal Life In Hands of Rookie... March 28th, 2011 - It's laughter time once again in the Doctor's Data v Barrett Federal court case in Illinois.Not long ago Stephen Barrett's legal team (snort here) went to court to get a ten day extension to answer an answer to a Motion. They said it was necessary to get more time so as to answer Doctor's Data's Official Response to their own Motion to Dismiss, claiming that the Response was "so very long." They got the ten days.Today they finally submitted their paperwork, and lo and behold, it was written, not by Michael K. Botts, Esq, Barrett's so-called "lead attorney," but by one of the Chicago firm's people, an attorney who just got their Bar license not long ago - and apparently has nor experience on this kind of law.So, where's Botts? As I said in an earlier article: "The Motion For Extension of Time was filed by the Chicago attorneys. Barrett's so-called lead attorney, Michael K. Botts, seems to have disappeared, and if he's working at all, it may be out of the trunk of his car - since it was pointed out in the Plaintiff's Objection to an Extension of Time, that Botts is NOT working at the law office, anymore, that he claimed he worked at, at the beginning of the case." So, what was the essence of Stephen Barrett's paperwork this time? Same as before - they claim that Barrett is not defaming anyone. He is "helping the government..."so, therefore, "this whole case is a SLAPP and it should be dismissed..."I love it. ( Insert laughter here) MOREHealth Canada Under Massive Attack by Natural Products Maker... Sunday, March 20th, 2011 - There is an important Court proceeding coming up this Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011 in a Federal Appeals Court in Calgary, Canada. Health Canada has already circulated two Memorandums that indicate that it knows they are going to lose this battle - and that loss will radically change the way they have to operate. I'll show you those memos, near the bottom of this article. There is no question that Health Canada, the North-of-the-border equivalent of the US FDA, is totally, and completely run by the very drug companies it was designed to regulate. Just the same, in fact, as the US FDA is. Health Canada, like its US FDA counterpart, has a well-lubricated revolving door of drug company executives turned Health Canada leaders, turned back to drug company executives. Continuously. So, it is no surprise that Health Canada, itself, would take on the thought processes, and the moral lack, of the drug companies themselves. There is no better example in Canada of how the drug lord run Health Canada operates than to point out how Health Canada attacks competitors to drugs - espoused, for instance, in the infamous raids, and seizures, involving Truehope Nutritional Support ltd, of Alberta, Canada, the manufacturer of EmpowerPlus. Truehope, as you may remember, was, perhaps, the first natural products company to thrash Health Canada in a courtroom for their actions. More, they improved their corporate bottom line during the process. MORE Barrett's Sweaty Desperation... March 8th, 2011 - There were two legal filings, recently, in the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case. The first filing was, as expected, Barrett's last-ditch attempt to avoid Discovery - a Motion to Dismiss based on two allegations: (1) that the Plaintiff failed to make a proper claim (snort), and (2) that the lawsuit violated the Illinois Anti-SLAPP law. The second filing, of course, was the answer to the first. In short, the first filing, authored by Michael K. Botts, Esq., was an angry outburst, poorly researched, badly written piece of pseudo-legal claptrap.The second filing, authored by Jeffrey Levens, Esq., was, as we always see, an elegantly crafted, legally spot-on, detailed analysis of the problem at hand. No competition. Michael K. Botts, in this case, is being more badly beaten up than during the rip-thrashing he took from the Alternative Medicine world during the infamous Herbert v American Quackery Association - 1987 case. (smile here). MORE Trine Flops, Barrett Stops - All's Not Well in Quackpot Hell... January 30th, 2011 - Some days it is just way too much fun being an insider in the North American Health Freedom Movement. I get to see stuff happening right before my eyes, long before others become aware of what's happening. And, I have to say, there are members of the health movement which have a nasty sense of humor I commend and appreciate. In this case I use the word "nasty" in a very good way. There are two things going on surrounding the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case, which you will find highly amusing - that is, they are amusing if you are not one of Barrett's masters or minions. - or Barrett. For them, nothing is funny right now. (smile here). MORE Are Barrett's Handlers About to Buy Off Terry Polevoy? December 29th, 2010 - The quackbuster operation is having its woes these days. It seems that everywhere they turn there is another fire to put out. It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch... This particular fire is going to cost Stephen Barrett's handlers over $450,000 US dollars - I'll explain below. And, much more is coming their way. As well it should. A few months ago I wrote an article "Is Terry Polevoy the Information Source for Doctor's Data?..." suggesting that, perhaps, Canada's Terry Polevoy might be an information source for the attorneys representing Doctor's Data against Stephen Barrett, Quackwatch, inc, and the National Council Against Health Fraud (NCAHF). Frankly, I was joking - for no way would I believe that Polevoy was smart enough to figure out, or use, that kind of lever in his case against his former Co-Plaintiffs in the Barrett v Clark case. That is - until he, Polevoy, got the idea from the article I wrote. (smile here). MORE Doctor's Data V Barrett, et al - The NCAHF Board Members are Screwed - REALLY Screwed... November 30th, 2010 - I admit it. I love telling a good story. Give me a chance and I'll drag out the good parts, throwing in laughs here and there. The story, of course, I'm telling today is about the Doctor's Data v Stephen Barrett Federal Court case, which is, by far, the most important court case involving health care in North America.Today I've got a BIG laugh for you - unless, of course, you are a quackbuster - then you are not going to find this story funny at all - you are going to, once again, call me names - nasty names. Ready? Let's go. The National Council Against Health Fraud (NCAHF), also a Defendant in this case, has a Twenty member Board of Directors. I have a copy of the last publicly listed Board just below. September 29th, 2010 - I enjoy writing about the Doctor's Data v Barrett case. Every time I turn around and look to see what's happening another guffaw exits my system, for once more, seemingly out of nowhere sometimes, comes one more patent example that there is, in fact, a divine justice in the world.For those of you who don't know, Stephen Barrett and his weenie minions, are, for the most part (among other things) Secular Humanists, which, in simple translation, means that they do not believe in a God or religion, nor, to me, do they grasp or embrace the moral and ethical codex that, in essence, in 1776, established the very grounds for the social experiment known as "The United States of America." September 12th, 2010 - I read Court documents, including Original Complaints (the lawsuit itself) all of the time. It occurred to me, when I first read the Doctor's Data v Barrett, Federal Court case that the attorneys writing that case were very well informed about how the quackbusters operate. I thought to myself "these people must have been reading my newsletters..." But, as I began to re-read the case several times, looking for stuff to write about, I decided that it was very likely they had a well-informed source of their own - perhaps someone inside the quackbuster ranks.As I thought about that I realized that because the upper echelon of the quackbuster operation tend to use their soldiers like Kleenex, there was a very long list of victims that might fit the bill. As I thought about it I realized that it would have to be somebody who was relatively close to the top of the operation - at the same time disenchanted, for whatever reason, with the people at the top. The tentative list I put together was large, and included, virtually every member of the old NCAHF Board of Directors (the ones still alive), for, as you can easily see, they, since their usefulness has expired, have been used and thrown in the trash. You hardly ever hear about William Jarvis since the California Health Freedom Movement worked to get him tossed from Loma Linda University. And, weird old Wallace Sampson just kind of faded into his own fart pattern. And then, one day, I realized I hadn't re-visited that lawsuit Terry Polevoy had filed against Stephen Barrett's personal attorney Christopher Grell, and 20 other John Does, in California. So, I did revisit it - and the light went on. MOREBotts and Barrett - Fumble Bumble Stumble Jumble... August 27th, 2010 - I check my Pacer Account every few days and yesterday found four new filings in the Doctor's Data v Barrett, Federal Court case. After that I am even more convinced that the script writers for Saturday Night Live are designing Barrett's Defense.The four documents, all presented by Barrett's three attorneys (actually two-and-a-half - I will explain) tell a story that will somewhat amuse you. It certainly amused me. One of the documents, this one filed by Michael K. Botts, Esq. is a plea to the Court for Reconsideration, with explanations, to be allowed to represent Barrett at all. August 18th, 2010 - We have to keep our eye on the Doctor's Data v Barrett, et al, Federal case. Something new is always happening, or at least brewing. (vcf, ) (Entered: 08/11/2010)" I don't have a copy of the document, because it simply isn't filed in the record, but I imagine it reads very similar to the last one filed against Quackwatch, Inc... MORE California Supreme Court Bitch-Slaps Stephen Barrett Once Again... July 25th, 2010 - I find it surprisingly easy to defeat Barrett and his minions. It's almost like they lead themselves into the slaughterhouse. And there I stand with an axe... On July 14th, 2010, a little over a week ago, the California Supreme Court, with virtually no effort on my part, stomped a rancid old fart named Stephen Barrett on my behalf, by the simple act of denying Barrett's Petition to that Court, practically begging the Supreme Court to overturn the earlier Appeals Court Decision upholding the Alameda Superior Court's decision to Dismiss Barrett's case against me. The Judge in the Superior Court, once again with no effort on my part, had Dismissed the case since, frankly, Barrett, et al, just couldn't seem to get it up enough to pursue the original silliness. We, on the other hand, spent no effort either. It has always been my opinion that Stephen Barrett has always wanted to TELL people he is suing me, but actually facing me in Court, or anywhere else, is a whole another matter. I think it has been a manhood issue with him all along. MORE Barrett Has Four Days Left - Then He Goes to Default... July 8th, 2010 - I just checked my "Pacer" (Federal Court information system) file, and Barrett has not yet brought in a lawyer, and filed a response to the Doctor's Data lawsuit against him. Could it be this easy? Could it be that rancid old Stephen Barrett, when push comes to shove, just could not back up his public statements in a Court of law, and is just going to let the collection agents pick him clean? Could it be that Doctor's Data will have unlimited access to Barrett's years records showing whom he plotted with? (I'm really getting all excited thinking about this). As I said in my last article: In the Federal Court System a defendant is given 21 full days to properly Respond to a lawsuit. Let's assume, for the moment, that since Stephen Barrett was sued by Doctor's Data on June 18th, 2010, that he was served with papers on the 19th, the next day. Counting 21 days from that moment brings us to Monday, July 12th, 2010 - the deadline for Barrett to hire an attorney who can practice in Federal Court in Chicago, Illinois, and prepare, and submit a Response to the Court. That's eight days from now - and Barrett does not even have an attorney yet. Well, he only has about four more days... And, as I indicated: What happens if Barrett does not Respond? If Barrett does not Respond then Doctor's Data simply files for what is called a "Default Judgment," asking the Court to award everything they asked for - the Five Million in Damages, the Fifteen Million in Punitive Damages, and a permanent Injunction barring Barrett from talking about Doctor's Data, etc. The Judge's answer is almost automatic.. So, why hasn't Barrett "lawyered up" and answered? Let's think about that. There are probably three main reasons: MORE June 25th, 2010 - Stephen Barrett, who has no income of his own, he claims, had to go to his wife Judith the other day, I think, and say "Honey, I need an increase in my allowance this month. I'm getting sued in Fed Court in Chicago now, and I'm going to need $250,000 this month as a retainer, and another $100,000 per month to pay for my Defense, for the next year, or so." On Friday June 18th, 2010 Doctor's Data Laboratory filed an eleven count lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Stephen J. June 2nd, 2010 - I fully expected a battle royal in a San Diego Federal Courtroom this week with Stephen Barrett. Barrett had sued Hulda Clark and Carlos Negrete, making some sort of claim or another (I find it hard to tell what Barrett's lawsuits are actually claiming). I was a major witness scheduled to testify against him and I'd been preparing for weeks going over every piece of evidence I had ever gathered regarding Barrett's activities. I fully expected to testify for a full day - maybe more. And, I had a lot to say.I even bought a new tie for the occasion. But, this afternoon I found out that Barrett, today, came to Court apparently wanting to settle the case. And Carlos Negrete, apparently in his infinite mercy, agreed to a settlement denying me the opportunity to walk all over Barrett wearing my golf shoes - so to speak.. Worse, Carlos won't even tell me the terms of the settlement. He says it is confidential. Carlos Negrete is, I guess, much nicer than I am when it comes to Barrett. MORE November 20th, 2009 - I've been wondering who would pick up the reins of the quackbuster operation once Stephen Barrett croaks, which could be very soon. I think I found the candidate. He's perfect for the job - has all of the right quali-fications, and seems eager to fill the spot. For years there was a contest, among the quackpot faithful, to be crowned the heir apparent, and many were groomed for the job. But, problems kept coming up, so there was no obvious Crown Prince. November 12th, 2009 - New Orleans area doctor James Carter MD, PhD, author of the famous book "Racketeering in Medicine," the blatant 1994 expose of the plot to destroy innovation in US health care, called me up one day, several years back, and asked me if I was coming to a certain health convention where he was going to be. February 22nd, 2008 - Delicensed MD Stephen Barrett appears to have fled the State of Pennsylvania for North Carolina, just ahead of the official laughter laid on him by the the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Brown, National Counsel November 19th, 2010 - Here is one of the frauds for which FDA is famous. FDA’s in-house dentist Susan Runner, who proudly unveiled FDA’s abysmal amalgam rule at a news conference in July 2009, said that in all of human history only 141 people have complained about amalgam. In reality, FDA has received thousands of letters and comments from people saying amalgam’s mercury has caused grievous harm to them or a member of their family. But FDA’s “scientists” (and I use that word loosely) have decided that their prime source of information is the pro-mercury American Dental Association – a trade association that endorses the products of amalgam manufacturers for cash and that owns two amalgam patents.So Susan Runner, speaking for the Food and Drug Administration, says you do not exist – nobody is injured by amalgam. FDA pretends mercury implanted an inch from a child’s brain does no harm, that mercury implanted in a pregnant woman does not hurt the unborn baby, that amalgam does not contribute to the total mercury bioburden in our bodies. Instead of protecting consumers, FDA gave the dental industry and the cut-rate pro-mercury dentists a green light to cover up the mercury from consumers in 2009. October 30, 2010 - In the summer of the year 2000, it was a bolt out of the blue. The revelation. I come back to it for various reasons—this time because I’ve been reading doctors’ attacks on the nutritional industry: “fraudulent claims, quackery, unproven science, theft.”
You’ve heard all the accusations.
I t’s interesting that these doctors don’t bother to examine their own profession. If they did, they would fall through the deep hole, and they might never find their way back to the top.
On July 26, 2000, Dr. Barbara Starfield published her landmark study, “Is US Health Really the Best in the World?” in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA). At the time, Starfield was working at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She still is.
She is, as you can see, an insider. You don’t have your papers published in JAMA if you’re not.
Among her findings? The annual figure for deaths caused by medical drugs in the US is 106,000.

All those drugs were, according to her report, correctly prescribed and, of course, approved by the FDA. No drug makes its way into the American market unless the FDA certifies it as safe and effective. Both.
In a long, exclusive interview I conducted with Dr. Starfield earlier this year " AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH Dr. Barbara Starfield: Medically Caused Death in America," she made it clear that, since the 2000 publication date, no federal agency had contacted her to consult on taking remedial actions, in the face of all these deaths.

October 25, 2010 - As a medical investigative reporter for 28 years, I’ve seen public interest in health freedom come and go. Right now, in 2010, it is at a low point.
In the early 1990s, there was a tremendous fervor in America. Millions of people, perceiving a threat from the federal government, realized they could be cut off from the right to improve their health according to their own wishes, judgments, and decisions.
In practical terms, health freedom has come to mean: the right to have access to the widest possible range of nutritional supplements, health practitioners, and treatments—with no government obstruction.
Back in 1993, millions of Americans believed in that principle, and sent letters to Congress. Rallies were held. Celebrities appeared and supported traditional American liberty.
The final blow was struck with the passage of the Dietary Supplement Health Act of 1994 (DSHEA). It appeared to promise the results citizens were looking for. The FDA would not be permitted to limit access to the full range of nutritional supplements.
Then the furor died down and people went back to their lives. The internet grew into a giant. Millions of pages discussing health issues appeared. More freedom. More access.
But there has been an overall dampening of that spirit of the early 90s. Many people believe the major battle has been won.

Chronic Lyme Disease: Battle Requires Attack on Multiple Fronts
February 20th, 2008 - Most people battling chronic Lyme disease think of the illness as an infection caused by a bacterium known commonly as Borrelia Burgdorferi, generally transmitted via the bite of an infected tick. What many don’t recognize, however, is that recovery from chronic Lyme disease requires a recognition that the disease is truly a much more complex illness. Recovery often challenges one to consider more than just infection as the single causative agent involved in the disease process. It is through looking beyond the infectious component of Lyme disease and understanding the equally important aspects of damaging heavy metals and other toxic insults that a more full and lasting recovery may be realized.
Garry F. Gordon MD, DO, MD (H) co-founded the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) and serves as the President of Gordon Research Institute. Dr. Gordon graciously spent a couple of hours with me sharing his views on chronic Lyme disease and those factors that are important in recovering from chronic illness.
Dr. Gordon acknowledges Lyme disease as a serious infection which can lead to a wide-variety of health challenges. He does not, however, hyperfocus on the specific tick-borne pathogens which cause the disease. He instead believes that a multitude of infections are prevalent in anyone with chronic ill health. In addition to these numerous infections, our state of health is closely tied to our total body burden of endogenous and exogenous toxins. A dentist magazine surveyed its dentist readers, and finds that 52% of American dentists now are mercury-free. Wow. This new dentist majority brings colossal ramifications upon America ’s protectors of mercury fillings -- the American Dental Association and the Food and Drug Administration. I wrote the head of the ADA to inform him that the ADA has missed the boat by not exiting the mercury fillings business last year. (I even went to Chicago in December to hand them a graceful exit plan.) Choosing instead to stay mired in the 19th century, ADA ’s pro-mercury members are likely to be picked off via lawsuits, one-by-ones. AMA a Federal court ruled that the AMA and other individuals and organizations had conspired to contain and eliminate the practice of chiropractic.
